Project details
The Princes and Collin's Street project is a residential development in Oxford, undertaken on behalf of Oxford University, with Lifebuild Solutions as the main contractor.
The scheme consists of two blocks of flats - Collins Street, comprising 14 apartments, and Princes Street, comprising 12 apartments - designed to deliver modern, energy-efficient accommodation that aligns with the University's sustainability objectives.
Each apartment is equipped with an individual Mitsubishi Ecodan Air Source Heat Pump (ASHP), providing both space heating and domestic hot water via an underfloor heating (UFH) system. This setup ensures high efficiency, controllability, and occupant comfort while supporting the project's low-carbon design strategy.
To maintain good indoor air quality and regulatory compliance, each flat incorporates a Nuaire Continuous Mechanical Extract Ventilation (CMEV) unit. The system continuously extracts stale air from kitchens, bathrooms, and utility spaces, providing adequate ventilation in accordance with Building Regulations Part F.
In addition to the residential units, the project also includes the installation of two dry riser systems and a natural fire-rated smoke extract ductwork system within the communal areas. These elements ensure effective fire safety measures and compliance with relevant fire protection standards.
