The Amethyst Lane project, delivered for Reading Borough Council with Helix Construction as the main contractor, comprises 17 houses and one respite centre designed and built to Passivhaus principles.
The development focuses on low-energy performance, occupant comfort, and sustainability operation.
The mechanical package includes Mitsubishi Ecodan Air Source Heat Pumps (ASHPs) with pre-plumbed cylinder, providing heating and hot water via underfloor heating throughout each property. Every dwelling also features a Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery (MVHR) system to maintain fresh air supply and meet stringent energy efficiency standards.
The respite centre is served by two commercial Mitsubishi units delivering heating and hot water, supported by air conditioning systems to manage cooling and prevent overheating. It also includes a commercial MVHR system and a sprinkler suppression system for safety and compliance.
